Lore

The main timeline for my TF2 canon, BLU Symphony, so far. Spoilers for my fics!

Beginnings

In early 1968, the latest mercenaries are hired by RED for the gravel war. Unbeknownst to them, their enemies will be far more familiar than they're prepared for. Their DNA data is used to create clones of them for the BLU Team, and after a few months, that summer the war begins anew.

On the BLU team, Engineer and Spy quickly get to know each other, and trust is formed between them. That fall, after Engineer cuts off his own hand to replace it with the Gunslinger, he realizes his feelings for Spy go much deeper. It isn't long until the two are involved in a love affair.

That winter, Engineer seeks out more information about his grandfather, and begins to unravel the truth about their situation. After running some tests, Engineer and Medic find out their whole team is made of clones. They decide to keep this to themselves for now. Engineer doesn't even tell Spy, for he doesn't want to tell him all his worries about Scout being his son are implanted memories.

A Symphony of Suffering

Spring, 1969. BLU Spy learns the RED team has important intel in his base, and is requested via contract to retrieve it. He sneaks into the base, and decides to knock out their team's Medic and disguise as him to avoid suspicion. His plan goes awry, the enemy Medic sees him coming, and he is swiftly knocked out with a sedative.

Spy awakes tied to the operating table, and the RED Medic explains to him his plans to remove his head from his body and attach it to a device. Spy attempts to escape, but is put under for surgery despite his attempts. When he wakes up, he sees his body across the room.

Reduced to a head, Spy can't resist while the enemy Medic performs experiments on him. Meanwhile, after the RED Medic disposes of BLU Spy's body, the BLU Team's respawn spits out a headless body, which the team finds.

Miss Pauling tells the BLU team that they can't go to the enemy base until they find out more information. A bit over two weeks pass, and the RED Medic and RED Engineer successfully build the first ubercharge implant, using BLU Spy as a test subject.

The device keeping Spy alive causes worsening headaches as the overload of healing energy overloads his brain. The Administrator is pleased with RED Medic's new invention, and tells Pauling to tell BLU Team about their Spy's fate. It isn't long until a rescue plan is launched.

The day before they could rescue him, RED Medic performs a horrifying and unwelcome brain surgery to see the effects of his device on his test subject's brain up close. Spy is so horribly broken by his experiments, and has given up on the idea that anyone is coming to save him.

But they do manage to rescue him, and BLU Spy in his delirious state refers to Scout by name, Jeremy, as he is pulled out of the fridge and hurriedly taken home in a narrow escape. Meanwhile, the RED team's test of the ubercharge implant is a success.

Spy is put under for one last surgery, but this time by BLU Medic, so his head can be sewn back onto his body. He awakes with his Engineer next to his bed. He's home.

Kill me, My Dear

A few days after his rescue, BLU Spy's migraines haven't gotten any better. He has a seizure, and their team's Medic attempts to examine him properly. Spy can't bear to see him after all that his original did to him.

Scout seeks the truth as to how Spy knew his name, and is instead told the truth about them being clones. Scout confides in Engineer this truth, and discovers he already knew. Meanwhile, Pauling expresses that if Spy does not recover quickly or if BLU team can't start winning some battles, they have plans to replace Spy with another clone.

Engineer tries to comfort Spy, but reveals he knew about them being clones for months prior. Spy can't bear to see him due to him hiding such a crucial truth. Engineer shuts himself in the workshop, working nonstop on trying to make his own version of the ubercharge implant.

Scout tells Sniper the truth about their situation. Sniper decides to tell Spy that he needs to tell Scout the real truth, that he is his father, even if they're clones. Spy agrees.

Spy tells Scout the truth, and the story of how 'him' and 'his mother' met, based on what memories he does have from the man he was cloned from. Scout accepts him as his father, despite them both being clones. Unfortunately, Spy suffers from another seizure after speaking with Scout, and despite his protests, is taken to the base infirmary afterwards.

Medic tells Spy about how the company wants to replace him, and brings Engineer into the workshop to get them to finally talk. Spy forgives him, understanding the truth he hid was an impossible choice. He needs Engineer now more than ever, after all. Spy opens up to the both of them about the horrors that befell him during his imprisonment, and gives key information about the implant.

Miss Pauling vists, and tells Spy he needs to return to battle after the weekend, even though he has only been home for around a week. The others protest, but Spy agrees, as he doesn't have a choice.
